Kirk in the Hills in Bloomfield Township has changed its Sunday schedule to offer more worship and education opportunities for all ages and greater flexibility to meet the needs of busy families. Beginning Sept. 12, Kirk will offer three worship services on Sunday mornings: — 9 a.m. Sanctuary service, a relaxed, yet formal service. — 10 a.m. St. Andrew’s service, a creative worship for all ages. — 11 a.m. Sanctuary service, a formal, reverent worship. The new Sunday School schedule will be as follows: — 9:15 a.m. classes for children and youth (age 2 through 12th grade) and adults — 10:15 a.m. Classes for children (age 2 through 5th grade) and adults. — 11:15 a.m. Classes for children (kindergarten through 5th grade). “Worshipers today are looking for more variety and choices in service styles based on individual preferences and very hectic schedules,” said Pastor Norman Pritchard. “Moving our popular St. Andrew’s service from 9 to 10 a.m. opens up new opportunities, such as allowing families to attend Sunday School classes at 9:15 a.m. and then worship together at 10 a.m. You can pick and choose your worship and Sunday School options each week depending on your needs and interests.” The 11 a.m. traditional sanctuary service, an anchor for many long-time worshipers at the Kirk, will continue as it has for more than 60 years. Kirk in the Hills, 340 W. Long Lake Road, is a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA). For information, call 248-626-2515.
