Welcome to St. Andrew's Church (The Kirk)

Greetings,

St. Andrew's Church popularly known and affectionately referred to as "The Kirk" (which means "The Church" in Scottish) is situated in Chennai (erstwhile Madras) in Tamil Nadu, India. This exquisite marvel of architecture was built and dedicated in 1821 for the Scotsmen in then British army.

The body of worshippers today is mainly Indian and cosmopolitan. It has regular visitors from all over the world.

It continues in the Scottish Presbyterian Tradition and the worship is described by every visitor as "beautiful" in its form, in its spirit and in its truth.

The essence of the Faith, Vision and Mission of St. Andrew's Church is to glorify God through worship, edify believers, share Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour among the St. Andrew's community, the community outside St. Andrew's and the world.

The aim of this website of St. Andrew's Church is

1. To give complete information about ourselves and to facilitate interaction.
2. To increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love.
3. To help people grow and learn as Christians through mutual support and care.
4. To make more followers of Jesus Christ.
