The Danube Delta

UNESCO World Heritage intensely enjoy

After the Danube flows into the Black Sea 2860km from the source (Donaueschingen Black Forest Germany) to the mouth (called in ancient times Euxine Sea), they branched out into one of the most beautiful deltas in Europe and around the world. This delta was created more than 10 000 years ago. It is the second largest delta in Europe, and thanks to its stunning scenery and a rich flora and fauna of great tourist and even scientific interest. The Danube Delta is the habitat for a variety of bird species.

 

Day 1 Bucharest - Tulcea

In the afternoon you will be met at Otopeni International Airport and out to the bus. Then we drive about 4-5 hours, because the distance between Bucharest and Tulcea is 290 km away. On the way to Tulcea we take a break in Slobozia. There’s a small drink. Upon arrival in Tulcea we go on the boat, where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Tulcea - Delta

Breakfast on the houseboat. Nature and bird watching, depending on the water level in Sireasa, Garla Sontea, Crinjala, Fortuna lake and Martinca lake (Lake Martinca only in the spring) where you can watch a cormorant colony. All trips can be made with small motor boats – a means of transportation, which is also used by the local population. The residents of the area will lead us to our boats through the narrow channels and show us the beautiful landscape and nature. Lunch will be served on board. In the afternoon we will take a walk in a former fish farm. Today this farm operates as organic fish. At the various ponds with different water levels can watch various bird species. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 3 In the Delta

We take a trip to the dent lake where we will see an extraordinary landscape. Dent in the lake, you can sometimes see the white pelicans fishing. For this they willingly companies to the cormorants and Pygmy. Also, the Dalmatian pelican, egret, egrets, purple herons, spoonbills and many others can be viewed here. When Fortuna Lake WWF Germany and WWF International has implemented an interesting Reclamation and Environment project, the success will be visited on site. Return to the houseboat. With the cutter and the houseboat we go to Crisan. Dinner and overnight on the houseboat.

Day 4 In the Delta

In the morning we will take a trip on the Litcov-, Lungu- and Crisan-Caraorman area. Lunch on the boat. In the afternoon excursion by boat on the lakes Bogdaproste, Trei Iezare and Cazanel. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 5 In the Delta

After breakfast we head out on a day trip by cutter / motor boats on the Sulina arm and on the natural Madgearu-arm Letea and from there we go walking / horse-drawn further into the Letea reserve, one of the oldest virgin forests of Eastern Europe. The draped oaks of Greek lianas and the sand dunes represent the strongest contrast of nature. Here you can, with a little luck, observe many species of woodpeckers, eagles, honey buzzards, lesser gray shrike, Whinchat, corn bunting etc. Picnic lunch in the Letea Forest. Return to the houseboat to Crisan. Dinner and overnight on the houseboat.

Day 6 Delta - Tulcea

Before breakfast the houseboat is already driving towards Maliuc / Baclanestii Mari Lake (depending on the water level). Lunch on board. In the late afternoon we arrive in Tulcea. Here you have some free time. Dinner and overnight on board the houseboat.

Day 7 Tulcea - Bucharest

After an early breakfast we drive back to Bucharest. They come to your home.
