Harry Dean Stanton has been set to topline Lucky, the indie pic from newbie Superlative Films that will mark the directing debut of John Carroll Lynch. Logan Sparks and Drago Sumonja penned the script with their longtime friend Stanton in mind. Ed Begley Jr, Ron Livingston, Tom Skerritt and David Lynch co-star alongside Barry Shabaka Henley, Beth Grant, Yvonne Huff Lee, Hugo Armstrong, and James Darren.
Lucky centers on the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist (Stanton) and the quirky characters that inhabit his off-the-map desert town. Having outlived and out-smoked all his contemporaries, the fiercely independent Lucky finds himself at the precipice of life, thrust into a journey of self-exploration, leading toward that which is so often unattainable: enlightenment. The movie is now filming in Los Angeles.
Sparks, Sumonja, Richard Kahan and Ira Steven Behr are producing with Superlative Films’ Danielle Renfrew Behrens (Grandma) and Divide/Conquer’s Greg Gilreath, Adam Hendricks and John Lang. Jason Delane Lee from The Langralane Group is executive producer.
John Carroll Lynch most recently starred in FX’s American Horror Story and The Americans.
