Due to the diversity and abundance of old brands available in Europe, Custom Builders of the Old Continent have an advantage in terms of cost and choice of motors to use for a new build. In the case of this bike, starting with a 1972 Norton Commando 850 cc engine and 4-speed transmission is the assurance that your completed chopper will look not only old school but a lot different on the road and from its competitors in bike shows.
Add to this the respect of one of the great racing names of the British motorcycle industry although the Norton Villiers Triumph Group ended up in liquidation. Build in Austria by a shop called Blech Und Drueber, this very 70’s looking chopper uses a hand made rigid frame with a reasonable 43-degree of rake and is particular light due to extensive use of aluminum for the gas tank, rear fender, seat pan, oil tank, etc all formed by Bernhard Naumann and Martin Lagler. The front fork is also a one-off stainless steel Girder, with a front wheel using a drum brake while the unusual 21″ rear wheel is slowed by a sprocket bake system. Reminds me of what was around in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Plenty of chops in the US had metric engines in them.

Reminds me of my first bike,… but mine was a stock frame, until I made it a rigid… with a short front end. More or less a what might be called a bobber…. Z-bars, 16″ rear wheel with bobbed rear fender. Ah, back in the day. Thanks Cyril for the Norton post,… any Norton post, but this one is way cool!
This bike is awesome! It looks even better in real life. I saw it in Daytona and was awe struck. THis is the coolest norton that I have ever seen.

Wicked cool bike!! There was a nice one at the Donnie Smith Bike Show in 2009 I remember, you don’t see very many Norton choppers!! It was a very nice bike as well.
The kids and I in my chopper class are building a BSA Lighting chopper, we still love Harleys!! but it’s a nice change to build a Brit bike. Great job on this one!!
